## **What is NMKR Mint?**

NMKR Mint is a simple tool for minting and selling NFTs, designed for smaller collections. The simple User Interface guides you through each step, making it impossible to overlook any feature or specification or to muck up your mint in any way. You have the option of minting the NFT manually after creation or listing them in the NMKR Store, where you can share a sales link for your NFTs or Collection.

## **Mint a single NFT with NMKR Mint**

Go to [https://mint.nmkr.io/](url), select "Single NFT" and click "Next".

**Create the NFT**
In the next steps you are creating the NFT.

Upload Files
Click "Add files" to add up to six files to the NFT, or drag and drop the files directly into there.

The maximum file size for each individual file is 50 MB and the supportet file formats are:
jpg, png, gif, mp3, wav, mp4, avi, or mov.

**Token details**

Add the Description and naming in the next step. 
The Display Name (max 60 Characters), is the name that will be shown on marketplaces and on explorers like pool.pm. In the description, you want to describe in up to 60 words what your token is about. The Token Name is the unique identifier for the token on the blockchain, it is not allowed to hold any special characters.

**Add Tags**

This step is optional and only applies to the NMKR Store. The Tags you are able to select here, will show up in the NMKR Store and help collectors to better find projects they are interested into.
Flag your NFT as "Adult Content" if it contains any nudity (NSFW), violence, profanity, slurs or potentially disturbing subjects.
If your NFT contains flashing or flickering lights, please flag your NFT with a "Photosensitive seizure warning".

**Royalties**

Specify the Royalty percentage here. Every secondary market that is following the Cardano Royalty Standard will automatically distribute this specified percentage of the sales price if a token is sold on their platform.

Please keep in mind that the creation of a royalty token will take 2 ADA for for each collection.
You will be asked at a later step to provide a payout address, where you want to receive the royalties.

If you specified royalties, you will be asked further in the process to also add a payout address to receive the royalties.

**Sell or mint directly**

In this step, you can now decide if you want to directly mint this token and send it to a wallet with "Mint only". Or if you want to list the token in the NMKR Store where you can then share a link with your community.

If you want to mint only, please select "Mint only" and click "Next"

Select "Mint now" in the next step to mint your token directly via [https://nmkr.io/pay](url), our payment gateway, that allows you to connect your wallet. A click on "View NFT" will show your NFT in the NMKR Store. If you click on mint again, you will restart the creation process.

If your Mint price shows 4 ADA here, you specified that this token should have royalties.

**For Sale**

If you don't want to mint your token, but put it up for sale, please select "For sale".
Specify a mint price and if you want also specify the availability of the sale by clicking on the date and time buttons.

Specify a payout wallet where you want to receive the Sales revenue and click on "Next".

Go to [https://mint.nmkr.io/](url), select "NFT Collection" and click "Next".

## **Create the NFT Collection**
**Specify Collection Details**

- Specify the collection details in the next step.
- The Collection name and description will show up once your NFTs are listed on the NMKR Store. 
- They are allowed to contain up to 60 Characters with special characters.
- Add your project link to the collection, this will also how up on the NMKR Store.

You can't change this settings afterwards, so please choose wisely.

**Cover image**

Upload a Cover image in the final step of the Collection settings.

- The maximum file size is 10mb, the Minimum size is 1920x1080 px. 
- You can upload a jpg or png file.

**Specify Sales**
Mint only or put up for sale

- Where "Mint only" will allow you to directly mint the tokens after the creation at the end of the process. 
- Choosing "For Sale" will give you the possibility to share links to the NMKR Store where your customers are able to buy and mint the tokens.

Please click on next and start creating your NFTs.

**For Sale**

If you select "For sale", please also specify the mint price for the tokens in the collection and also the payout wallet, where you want to receive the sales revenue.

**Create NFTs**

Upload all the files that you later want to use to create the single NFTs. This is like a catalogue you are creating to later select up to 6 files for each NFT.

You can upload up to 90 individual files here with up to 1GB total file size (50 MB single file size)
Supported file formats: jpg, png, gif, mp3, wav, mp4, avi, or mov.

Click the "create" button again to add more tokens in the same way.

Once you are finished with adding tokens click on "Next".

**Sell the NFTs**

In the following screen, you are now able to copy the minting links individually, or view them in the NMKR Store. With a click on "Export all minting links to PDF" you download a PDF that contains all the minting links. A click on "Mint again" will bring you back to the starting screen to create a new collection.

If you decided for "Mint only" at the earlier step, you will here be asked to mint yout NFTs.

ADA payment links is a feature that enables you to create a customized payment link to receive a specified amount of ADA to a specified receiver address. This link can be embedded on your website or shared through other communication channels.

When a user clicks on the payment link, it will open NMKR Pay, our paymentgateway application that supports ADA transactions and is also used to mint NFTs with NMKR Studio. The user can then connect their wallet and sign the payment transaction to complete the transfer of funds to the specified receiver address.

In addition to the payment amount and receiver address, you can also add a custom note to the payment link. This feature provides a convenient and secure way for businesses and individuals to accept ADA payments without the need for complex payment integrations.

## **The NMKR Paper Wallet**
The Paper Wallet allows you to create a new Cardano Wallet for a certain use case in seconds.

A great example to explain the use of the Paper Wallet is how we implemented it to the FIAT Payment option in NMKR Pay; The buyer decides to pay for his NFT with Credit Card. AS the user pays with this FIAT option, there is obviously no Cardano Wallet address given to receive the NFT. So, where does it go? This is where the Paper Wallet comes in place, it is automatically created and receives the NFT. The buyer downloads the Paper Wallet details to access this wallet during the payment process.

`The Paper Wallet is a non-permanent solution to store your NFTs, please move them out as soon as possible to a self-custiodian Wallet.`

**How to create a Paper Wallet**
The paper wallet can be easily created with just one single click on "Create Paper Wallet" on [https://paper-wallet.nmkr.io/](https://paper-wallet.nmkr.io/)

**How to move NFT out of the Paper Wallet**
You received the Paper Wallet as a present, or you bought an NFT via FIAT Payment and now ask yourself, what is going to happen next. As the Paper Wallet is meant as non-permanent solution, you should move the bought NFT out of the wallet to a self-custodian Wallet, that only you have access too.

**Create a self-custodian Wallet**
Create your own Wallet with one of the Wallet-Softwares that are available for Cardano. Write down the seedphrase (also called "the keys"; the combination of 12 to 24 words). 

Keep this key save, with this key, the wallet on the blockchain can be accessed by anybody that is in possession of that keys with every Cardano Wallet-Software.

**Import the Paper-Wallet**
Every Wallet-Software allows you to also import existing wallets, this will be done by entering the seed-phrase to the Wallet-Software. This is also how you want to add your Paper-Wallet to the Wallet-Software. 

**Move the NFT out of the Paper Wallet**
Switch now back to the self-custodian wallet that you created with NMKR and copy the receiver address there. Switch to the Paper-wallet again and send the NFT to your newly created self-custodial Wallet.

## **Cardano Wallets**

**What are wallets on Cardano?**
The term wallets can be very confusing, so we want to clear things up.
The Wallet that holds your funds is on the blockchain, it is public and can be viewed by everyone on the blockchain, everybody can send funds or Tokens to this wallet. Sending funds or tokens out of the wallet is only accessible for the holders of the seed-phrase (Keys) of the wallet.

To use the features like sending tokens or funds out of the wallet, you need to access the wallet with a Wallet-Software (Apps or Browser Extensions). Below you will find a list of the most common  Wallet Softwares. These Wallet Softwares allow you to create wallets ( you receive the key phrase of this wallet during the creation process of a wallet) but you can also import wallets to that software with the seed-phrase. This is why it is important to store the keys safe. Everybody that has access to the keys, could import the wallet with this keys to any Wallet Software and withdraw your funds.

`Keep your seed-phrase (Keys) safe! Everybody with access to these keys can import your wallet with any wallet software to remove your funds. This is also the case if you are using a hardware wallet*.

*Hardware wallets are eletronic devices that are adding an additional security layer to your wallet. With a hardware wallet you need to confirm every transaction additionally on the device and not only in the software wallet. But, whoever has access to the seed-phrase, can also bypass this security layer.

Further terminology:
Harware-Wallet = Cold Wallet

Software Wallet = Hot Wallet`

Exchange Wallets

Never use an exchange wallet to purchase NFTs. Most exchange wallets are incapable of holding and managing NFTs. If you use an exchange wallet to mint tokens, your funds and NFT may be lost. In case you used an exchange wallet for minting please reach out to the exchange with your transaction IDs.

There are a lot of self-custodial wallets that are capable of holding and managing NFTs. The best and most common wallets are integrated to NMKR Pay.

**Self-Custodial Cardano Wallets**
The following is a List of Cardano wallets that are integrated to NMKR Pay and can be used to mint and manage Non-Fungible Tokens as well as Fungible Tokens. NMKR Pay is a payment solution that is constantly being improved, and we are continuously adding new wallets.

## **Dealing with Bots**
Bots are annoying and can harm your project and mint experience

In the world of cybersecurity, the last thing you want is to have a target on your back. But every single large-scale concert ticket sale, sneaker drop, NFT drop or anything else that rewards buyers for getting in early has this sort of target on their back.

This essentially means that the whole topic of cybersecurity and bot protection has become an arms race. There is no one-size-fits-all solution. The security measures must evolve with the sophistication of the exploits.

To deal with Bots, the following article is a must!

**Additional security measurements**

- Allow max 2 NFTs per transaction by [setting up prices for only up to two tokens](https://docs.nmkr.io/nmkr-studio/set-up-sales/manage-prices-pricelist)
- If it fits, use the [Whitelisting feature](https://docs.nmkr.io/nmkr-studio/set-up-sales/sales-conditions-and-whitelisting/whitelist-with-count)

**Workaround for much more security**

1. Create unique payment links for each NFT and download them in bulk as CSV files using the "Export NFT button."

2. Then, in the project settings, disable random sales.

3. You can now create your own registration system. This could be a Discord bot, email registration, KYC, or anything else you want!

4. Completing this registration process provides the customer with a unique link that is valid for about 24 hours. If it is not used, it is passed on to the next person.

## **Security Practices**

There are several security best practices that you should review before you launch your NFT project

**Your NFT project's security**
Sometimes it can seem easy to connect the pieces required to mint and sell NFTs on Cardano but you have a responsibility to protect your customers from potential pitfalls.

Reviewing our best practices and staying up to date with the best way to perform secure and scalable NFT drops on Cardano will help ensure your success.

**Preventing bots from buying your NFTs**
If you have a large enough following or vulnerabilities in your NFT minting system then your NFTs can be purchased by bots.

Typically people will deploy bots in order to obtain as many of the NFTs as they can with hopes that the scarcity that comes from purchasing them all drives up the price on the secondary market.

It's up to you to ensure that your project is using the best method of minting and selling your NFTs based on your tolerance for this potential behavior.

**Protecting your NFT reservation implementation**
If you're selling your NFTs by using our API to generate unique addresses for each potential customer then there are several ways to prevent malicious behavior.

You can make sure you only reserve an NFT for purchase if the user clicks a certain button on a webpage. If you automatically reserve an NFT for purchase as soon as someone goes to your website then it's easy for people to open up tens or even hundreds of tabs and reserve all of the NFTs available rather quickly.

You can implement a reCAPTCHA (or similar) in order for the prospective buyers to validate they are a human before you create their unique address. Remember, only after the person has correctly solved the reCAPTCHA (or another verification method) should you generate the wallet address for them to use.

You could also implement a login system with email validation. This way you know only people who have a valid email address can reserve an NFT which makes it difficult to scale to reserving many.

Even the options we listed aren't foolproof. It's up to you to stay informed of the best practices in the always-changing Cardano NFT space.

**Protecting your pay-in address implementation**
If you're selling your NFTs by using our pay-in address implementation to have a single wallet address that everyone uses then there are different ways to prevent malicious behavior.

If you want only a certain group of people to use the address then you should try and ensure it stays as hidden as possible. It's easy for a single person to copy and paste the pay-in wallet address and instructions on social media. That's why it's important for you to explicitly tell your customers not to share the details of the sale.

You could also make sure to only post the address and buying instructions in a closed community like an email newsletter list, a private Discord group, DM'ing specific individuals, accounts on your website, etc.

By limiting the overall exposure of the pay-in address you have a better chance of preventing an individual from minting a majority of your NFTs.

**Setting up an external hardware wallet **
Your Internal Wallet is a wallet assigned to your account but managed by NMKR Studio. You can use it for minting NFTs or receiving ADA from your sales.

At the same time, we advise that you connect your own wallet external to NMKR Studio and never store large sums of ADA in the Internal Wallet.

You can use the Internal Wallet to facilitate your NFT sales but using an external wallet connected to a hardware device is the most secure option available.

**Protect your NMKR Studio API usage**
Since NMKR Studio is an API-based solution, it can be accessed from your local computer, a website, a server, etc. Although it's possible, it's not intended for you to make API calls directly to NMKR Studio from your website.

We recommend that if you need to interact with our API based on an action that a user does on your website then you call an API that you own and your server then calls our API to complete the action.

Don't expose your NMKR Studio key on your website or your own API

Don't expose values like NFT Project ids, NFT ids, etc anywhere to the public

**More important security practices**

- Show you policy ID to your customers so they don't get scammed
- Don't commit your NMKR Studio API Keys to a repository
- Don't publish your keys to any of your policies anywhere online
- Don't get tricked by people asking for an NFT they didn't get
- Don't let someone get refunded twice by doing it manually
- Don't collect personal information if you don't have to
