Introduction: What is VESPR?

To begin your process of setting up a Vesper wallet, head on over to the official VESPR Website and choose either the Google Play Store icon or Apple Store icon (depending on which mobile device you have) to be directed to download the VESPR mobile application on your device. Once you have been directed to your mobile app store (in this tutorial, we will be downloading VESPR through the Apple App Store), download the application and patiently await until it has been completed.

Step One: Download The VESPR Wallet

Once you have completed downloading the VESPR wallet on your mobile device, click on the application to begin the process of making your light wallet. Once on the VESPR application, you will first be asked to read through and agree to VESPR’s terms of use as well as their privacy policy. After reading through both documents, click the “Continue” prompt and check both boxes that state you have “read and agree to” their terms of use and privacy policy to move onto the next step.

Step Two: Accept TOS & Privacy Policy

Once on the next page, you will then be asked to either “Create a new wallet” or to “Restore [an] existing wallet,” make sure to click on the “Create a new wallet” prompt to move on to the next step.

Step Three: Create New Wallet

Congratulations, you have already created your wallet; but first, we must take some proper security precautions to ensure your wallet is backed up and the secret recovery phrase stored. Once you are directed to the homepage with your new empty wallet, VESPR will ask you to back up your wallet with the “Back up now” prompt. Click this to prompt to move on.

After being directed to the new screen, click on the “Back up now” prompt to begin the process of backing up your recovery seed phrase.

Step Four: Start Back Up Recovery

VESPR will then direct you to a page advising you on key tips to ensure you properly back up your wallet and store your recovery seed phrase. Always keep in mind that you should generally write down your recovery seed phrase offline or on paper, store it somewhere safe, ensure there are no spelling errors or inconsistencies. Once you are prepared to properly store your recovery seed phrase, click on “Continue.”

VESPR will then ask you to confirm that (a) nobody can see your screen or has access to your mobile device, (b) understand that you risk the security of your assets by sharing this phrase with others, (c) understand that you will permanently lose access to your funds if the recovery seed phrase is lost, and (d) understand that VESPR employees will never ask for your recovery phrase. If all the criteria above are met, click the “Show Recovery Phrase” to obtain your recovery seed phrase.

VESPR will then provide your wallet’s recovery seed phrase for you to write down on paper and store somewhere properly. Again make sure that (a) you write down the entire secret recovery phrase and store it somewhere safe, (b) double-check for spelling errors, and (c) ensure every word in the phrase is written down in the correct order. Once you have properly written down your entire seed phrase and stored it somewhere safely, check the box confirming you have done so and click “Continue.”

Step Five: Back Up Recovery Phrase
