Welcome + Overview

Chapter 1 - Intro to Golf Class

I would say more than half the battle is getting setup correctly to the shot.  Think of it like trying to hit a bunt without any adjustments to the way you face the pitcher.  You'll need to adjust from your FULL SWING setup to hit shorter shots.

🗝️SETUP KEYS🗝️

1️⃣Choke Down - Not hitting a full shot here, don't need to hold the club at the top.  Choke down and improve the control of the touch shot you are about to attempt.
 
2️⃣Narrow Stance - You wont hit these shots as far as full swings, so keep the feen narrow.  This will help to make a smaller stroke.

3️⃣Handle Forward - The club shaft and handle(grip) have to be leaning forward, and have to maintain this position for most of the shot.  This feeling is essential for these shots and a great feel for impact for ALL shots.  You want to try to hit the shot without the grip going away from the target as you strike it.

4️⃣Weight Forward - For most basic chips around the green and up to around 20 yards, most of the weight should start and stay on your lead or forward side.  Right handed players this is keeping weight/pressure on the left side throughout. 

Watch good players setup to the ball, you can sort of tell they will knock it close.  They are also fairly still with most of the lower body if the shot is pretty close.

Chapter 2 - The Setup

⛳Chipping⛳

👇Shots stay lower to the ground and roll more.  If you have lots of green in front of you and lots of room for the ball to roll out this is a good choice.

7️⃣8️⃣9️⃣irons are good choices for these shots


⛳Pitching⛳

☝️Shots tend to get higher in the air and roll less.  Hitting over a bunker or to a tight pin location.  

👐More use of wrists here, they bend and hinge more than the chip shot

🏌️‍♂️Pitching Wedge + Sand Wedge are good clubs for these shots

All of these shots need practice and fine tuning.  Bring some balls to a practice green sometime and try to get them to stop near the hole.  Work on good contact and hitting it on the center.

⛳Want to know the secret?  You have to practice some of these shots to get better.  Since golf is a touch and feel game, you have to fine tune your instruments and get them ready for battle.  

🏌️‍♂️Any type of practice thats quality is good, in the video I explain the flamingo drill which i love for balance, stability + contact.  

🧠Be creative around the green and try lots of shots.  Visualize how you think the ball would end up getting close to the target.

🎲Play some chipping games + contests with friends.  Put some action on it and see how good you can get!

Chapter 4 - Some Drills for Practicing

Some of the common mistakes players make:

⛳Club Selection for the shot, lots of players use the same club around the green, try a few different ones to see which ones work best.  Try some lower shots and higher shots so that you can be prepared for what comes at you.

⛳A big backswing and the player stops the club down at impact.  Fairly common, try to equalize the size of the swing on both sides, or make it more equal.  Following through and hitting through impact is ok!

⛳Hit some shots from deep rough, bad lies, sand, sidehills, basically all the different shots you may encounter on the golf course.  Move your body around a bit and make some adjustments that will make it easier to hit the shot.
